My previous refrigerator was a Samsung. It was the same cubic feet and size as the GE. My Samsung had three drawers on the refrigerator side plus four shelves and a rack for bottles. The GE would be better if it had more rails where I could have added an additional shelf, but it doesn't. The bottom and top shelf are way too spacious (i.e. height) to accommodate most of the items I put in there. It really needs more rails to add another shelf above the drawers. The door also had a rack for canned drinks. The freezer side also had two drawers. I really liked the Samsung better than this GE refrigerator. I feel the Samsung actually accommodated better storage than this GE.

A No Frills Refrigerator

This is a 21.9 cubic foot refrigerator, however, its shallow depth makes it not feel quite that size. The shelves and door boxes were well built; Door boxes are double walled. Water filter is easily accessible as are temperature monitoring for freezer and the refrigerator side. Ice maker works well as does filtered water and ice door delivery. I found I had to buy an extra box for the door items in the refrigerator and also clear bins for the freezer shelves as space is pretty shallow and it is difficult to stack items on shelves without them fall out when doing a search for food items. The lighting particularly in the refrigerator seems dim despite it being LED, - I think it needs another bulb. My biggest concern is reliability, and I have no way to judge that at this early point. I would say I think GE tried to be responsible in providing a good refrigerator.

You cannot level the counter depth refrigerator without using shims; back wheels cannot be adjusted. Techs checked the floor, it was level. It™™s a shame that it doesn™™t let you adjust back wheels to align with our cabinets.

So exactly what I needed! Not just wanted, but needed! The space I had to work with was limited and this counter-depth side-by-side fits perfectly. The space inside the fridge and freezer are perfect for my needs - knowing how much space you need is key when making appliance decisions. It has to fulfill your needs and function in your space. Having on demand ice and filtered water is priceless to me. This fridge/freezer side-by-side provides everything I was looking for while fitting in my space. So happy with this purchase.

Disappointed, two important features lacking that I didn™™t realize until I got the refrigerator home. One is a small drawer for small packing, deli & cheese. Another is poor lighting. The bigger disappointment is there is no way to upgrade the refrigerator after purchase. I would like to be able to purchase an additional drawer, but none is available. When using the crushed ice feature, chips collect inside the door and fall off to the floor next time the freezer door is opened.

This refridgerator replaced another GE counter depth fridge that I had for 10 1/2 years. I choose to replace the old one because the control board needed to replaced and it would have cost approx. $500 and last year I had to replace the fan belt. Being that the old fridge was over 10 years old, I figured it was time to buy a new one and put the old one (which still worked except for the water/ice dispensing function) in the garage so that I would have additional fridge and freezer space. The two are similiar, however this one does not have 1) a second light on the bottom shelf to better light up the fridge 2) a deli/cheese drawer 3) "basket" type shelves in the freezer to better hold frozen goods 4) a turbo cool feature on the control board and 5) a quick ice feature on the control board 6) a "can rack" on the top portion of the fridge side door to hold canned sodas. So now I have to buy extra motion sensor type lighting so I can see the contents of the bottom part of the fridge and also some sort of basket to put deli type food. Also, I have to make sure the frozen foods, such as meat, fish and other items in bags that do not lay flat are situated so that they don't fly off the freezer shelves when I open the freezer drawer. I may invest in some sort of baskets to place the frozen items that are in bags. Really, GE? I would have expected the same features (or even better features) as the old version. This is a big down grade.

Very difficult to find Counter Depth, French Door and White color these days. Replacing a Samsung as it looked really nice but stop working. The GE is good and works well. The interior is a little awkward but we can work with it. The water dispenser does not drip, but you need to make sure you cup you cup under it for a second to get the last drop. The biggest complaint is the fit and finish: Water and ice compartment on door has gaps and looks cheap. The tops of the doors have sharp edges (be careful when cleaning). We are hoping for many good years from GE and maybe switching out other Samsung Appliances with GE too.

Nice refrigerator but lighting is terrible in refrigerator and freezer. Single dome light in refrigerator is blocked when food is placed on shelves, so bottom shelves are totally dark. Called to ask if something was missing but was told by customer service "that was the design".

I'm mostly happy with this refrigerator, but it does have a several flaws that I consider significant. First, it is dark inside. The lighting is really sub-standard. I actually got a motion detection puck light that adheres to the second shelf to help illuminate the lower half. This is ridiculous considering that the light cover at the top of the box is huge and cuts down vertical space on the top shelf. It's ugly and unnecessary to make it so big. In addition, the light color is the cold, LED blue that makes everything in the fridge look drab and unappetizing. The other unwelcome gotcha is the water filter. It only lasts 6 months (I'm a one person household) and costs over $50, so that's an extra $100 a year. You can have GE send you a plug piece for the filter if you find the filter expense aggravating. I found out about that from another reviewer. All told, it's a decent fridge, everything else works fine. It's just not excellent.

The unit is one of a few built for the dimensions we needed and still available in white. However, while the exterior dimensions are virtually the same, the interior space lacks similar organization when compared to our former unit's functionality. The fan is also louder than it should be.

This fridge has no cold cut drawer. The freezer shelves don't go all the way back so food falls behind. Not enough freezer shelves. Should have one more door shelf. I've had mine for 2 1/2 months and the ice machine overflows/won't stop making ice so Iwill have to call for repair. Shelf in butter compartment is slanted so butter dish slides out. The only reason I bought this one was the other one with the cold cut drawer was so backordered that I had no choice. Would not buy again/recommend.

In terms of its functionality (i.e., keeping food cold/frozen) and providing adequate space inside to meet our needs, the refrigerator works well for us. THE PROBLEM we have is that the compressor motor is extremely LOUD and runs often during the day. We have nicknamed the refrigerator "Jaws" because the noise it makes is similar to the music that plays whenever the Great White Shark appears in the movie. This noise can be heard on the floors of our home above and below the first floor where the kitchen is. Fortunately, we've had no visitors to our home since it was installed in July, saving us the embarrassment. Please note that there are only 2 adults of retirement age living here, so there isn't a lot of activity opening the refrigerator each day. If we could add a video with sound to this review, we would, so you fully understand our frustration.

This white variant of this refrigerator comes without a meat/cheese drawer on the fresh food side and a second bottom drawer on the freezer side. Why? Just because I want a white refigerator, do I have to accept a cost reduced version as well? I had a very similar refrigerator from GE for 20 years. It had one feature that I don't find on this new model-- a deli drawer. I used that frequently and will miss it. Otherwise the new water/ice feature, led lights, and sleek look are an improvement. It is not energy efficient, but it fits my space and the water feature with ice and filter are excellent.

It's white, fits right, but has bad light. The light in top hangs down too far and lights up slowly when you open the door. Why would you want a refrigerator light to turn on slowly? No light in the bottom either. Had to put light strip in the bottom. The refrigerator is fairly quiet and the filter does a good job,but it's in the way, being in the food storage area. The filter is a XWFE, and it appears it isn't sold by anyone but GE. If you don't need a counter depth refrigerator I would suggest looking at the GE 21.8, it has better lighting and a better price.

This was a replacement for an older refrigerator of the same brand, size, and style. This model is sleeker and more energy efficient. The shelves on the refrigerator side could have more options for adjusting up or down, and an additional drawer would be nice.

Refrigerator functions well and has a great reputation for reliability. It does not use the space well. It could use at least one more shelf in both the freezer and cold storage area, another shelf in the cold storage door, and it could use a deli drawer. Due to the curved front on the shelves, we could not install after-market pull-out drawers. We are putting in shelf organizer racks. The shelf inserts in the freezer door might hold boxes, but they are too short to hold flexible bags. We replaced an LG because we believe that the GE will handle basic temperature control better, but the LG had better user functionality.

I love my new fridge! It somehow feels like a real fridge. The seal on the doors is so good. The drawers and spacious. The shelves make keeping things visible and organized easy. I love how the counter depth gives my tiny kitchen a bit more room. The ice maker does leave a tiny bit of ice on the inside of the freezer door. But overall, it's a great fridge!

Generally, a very good fridge/freezer. The handles are a little too close together so it can be hard to fit a hand at certain angles. Ice maker is pretty noisy but works well. Ice dispenser sometimes spits out too much ice. Otherwise, it works well.

This crisp, white refrigerator is what was needed for my limited space. It fit like a glove. Product appears sturdy, durable and substantial. Parts are well made with exceptional hard plastic. The spill proof shelves are ideal. Hopefully, this refrigerator will be as reliable as my last GE refrigerator™"™"-30 years!

The lighting is to dim inside the refrigerator and freezer. Can™™t see to well on the bottom shelf™™s. You have a very had time finding things in drawers because of poor lighting. Also the over head light hangs down to far and is hard to put things around it.
